He was the creator of the Kulishivka spelling, which formed the basis of modern spelling.
Panteleimon Kulish made the first complete translation of the Bible into Ukrainian (the work was completed by Ivan Puluy and Ivan Nechuy-Levytsky).
He translated 13 plays by Shakespeare, works by Byron, Schiller, etc. But perhaps his most famous work is the first historical novel in Ukrainian literature, “The Black Council”, which has become a staple of the educational curriculum.
